Neon Knit Onesie

Cora turned two months old yesterday and I can't believe how quickly eight weeks has passed! She's brought so much joy into our lives; it's simply amazing. As most new parents do, we decided to take monthly photos of her to document her first year. I purchased these super cute decals from Lucy Darling and knew it was a must to make an outfit to go with each of the awesome stickers. So here it is, the Neon Knit Onesie.

I made a big knit purchase from Girl Charlee last week and could not pass up this funky, neon ruffle knit for under $5/yd. I had no clue what I was going to make with it but I knew it would be something neat. They still have some here if your interested!

The pattern I used was from Shwin and Shwin which was buried deep down in my PDF filing cabinet. A couple months ago I would have not attempted this project. The neck, arm and leg ribbing really scared me. Trust me I had all intentions of making some before Cora was born, but I was very intimidated at the thought of sewing this simplistic onesie.

Low and behold it was easy! Funny how your subconscious tells you to be weary of something, then once you get the courage to go through and just do it, it becomes so easy and fun. Fear holds so many people back from achieving their dreams. I realized when I decided to start a blog about sewing, the fear was so overwhelming. Fear of success, failure, people's opinions... was pretty intense. Fear is most definitely one of my character defects. But once you put all that behind, something like the fear of sewing a onesie becomes oh so small.

The ribbing I used was a navy blue jersey knit that I thought would go great with the all around style of the piece. Neon green and navy seem so right together. What I like about it is that it's quite fitting for either a little boy or girl.

From cutting the fabric to finishing the garment took less than two hours. I seriously cannot wait to make more of these for Cora and some of her friends.

Happy two months little squishy! You are loved by so many people, and I can't wait to see how you blossom. I am honored to be your mother, and I love you <3
