5 Months & Winner of Gracious Threads Giveaway

Monday, June 23, 2014

Happy Monday! Today I get to announce the winner of the Seashore Dress, Top & Tunic Giveaway, and show you Cora's five month outfit. The excitement is overwhelming hehe! I want to thank you all for entering and making my first giveaway ever a fun little success. I appreciate the love you guys! And the winner of the Seashore Dress, Top & Tunic is... Tasha Early! Congrats! The pattern will be emailed to you :)

Cora turned five months old on Friday, and I can't believe June is almost over. I feel like I just posted about her four month outfit last week. She is getting on all fours now and really trying to crawl. I have a feeling she will be crawling before she sits up. Ah!!! We are still nursing too, which is creating even more of a closeness between us. I am so in love with her! Enough with the gushy mom stuff, lets talk about her clothing shall we?

All of her onesies are officially too small, and I really don't want to buy any more of her clothing unless it's absolutely necessary. So what we have here is a simple ensemble of a tank and diaper cover. Easy right? Both of my patterns are from Dana over at MADE. I love Dana's blog, and her tutorials are pretty awesome if you ask me! I will say that I really wish I knew how to use my serger for the bum cover. Making casings on a leg hole is just not fun... the ironing and the whole roundness of it all... ugh. With that said, August will be dedicated to using my serger.

The fabrics I used were seersucker (bum) and knit (top). I liked the texture of the seersucker against the coral knit. You can't really tell in the photos, but the top has a nice slinky sheen to it. I could not tell you exactly what kind of knit it is because I bought it at the flea market a couple months back. The binding is some green knit from Girl Charlee. I royally messed up my bindings by using some gold thread.... WORST IDEA EVER!!!! Oh my gosh I don't recommend this thread by any means lol The bobbin thread kept getting all loose and tangleed, and of course I didn't realize this until I sewed it all the way. It was miserable. I also will use 1/2" double folded bias tape/binding next time too. 1/4" is just a little small for me to work with on knits.

That is all! I really liked how the two pieces came together in the end. Cora cooperated quite well during our mini photo shoot too. Great way to end my Monday. Happy Sewing!
