Polkadot Aster & Seersucker Clovers

Monday, September 1, 2014

Ok so onto entry number two! What we have here is the Aster Cardigan and the Clover Shorts. This was my first time sewing up the Aster Cardigan by Vanessa of LBG Studio, and I can say it will most deff not be the last! Living in Florida, the weather is super humid with rain guaranteed almost 75% during the spring/summer, so jackets are needed; especially when going from outdoors to indoors, the temperature is super drastic. Madison gets cold frequently, and she kept it when we got home from taking the photos. The size I sewed up was a 4, and the fit was magical.

The fabric used was this super, yummy ponte de roma from Girl Charlee. I have never sewn with this type of fabric before, and let me tell you, it is AMAZING. Where has this type of knit been all my life??? Seriously you guys. If you're the beginner and still hesitant about using knit, I recommend a ponte of sorts because it's super stable yet has a good amount of stretch. LOVE! Kudos GC, you didn't let me down.

Oh, and the other thing I tried for the first time... sewing on my buttons with my sewing machine. Score! Not the most perfectly even buttons ever, but this saved me so much time. I'm not even kidding you. I would say it cut my button time down by 30 minutes. I even used them on the Clover Shorts too!

If the Clover Shorts (affiliate link) were the only PDF I was asked to sew forever, I would not be bummed whatsoever! These shorts are perfect in every way. Not to mention the construction time on them is under an hour; great for doing during nap. Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House is a pattern genius, and I am so blessed to have been able to help test this pattern out. The fabric used to sew the clovers was the remainder of my seersucker. I am so sad it's gone! I really thought the seersucker would pair gorgeously with the polka dotted aster. I think it worked, do you? Please leave a comment down below if you agree :) If you want to see more pairs of Clover Shorts, you can click here and here

Also, don't mind that puff in the back... I had to use one of my shirts to wear under the cardi as we do not have a single white tank in her size lol I should probably sew one! And of course, the great natural posing comes AFTER we shoot :( But I couldn't resist adding this into the mix!

Thank you guys for taking the time to look at my late night postings! I had a blast creating stuff for the girls this weekend. The house was one hot mess though... fabric and buttons and patterns and kiddos running, crying, nursing. But it was truly wonderful. I take life too seriously sometimes, and really need to just take things "One day at a time", sometimes it's one hour at a time even. I am very blessed to have the life I do today, and it wouldn't be possible without the good Lord above. Sleep well my friends!
