Pattern Parcel #5: Choose your own price and support DonorsChoose. Win/win!

Parcel #5 is coming to a close on Friday. Noooo! So soon it seems. But not to worry! You still have two days left to purchase the last girls Parcel of the year. If you don't know what Perfect Pattern Parcel is, please see my first post by clicking the link here

One of my favorites in Parcel #5 is the Sunki Dress by Figgy's. This pattern comes as a bonus if you set your purchase price over $28. Don't forget that this parcel is not only a girls parcel, but the sizing goes all the way from 18mo-16 tween! Parcel #5 is perfect because it will grow with you and your child up until the teens. Plus, the proceeds go to helping to purchase supplies for the schools in need.

I sewed up the Sunki Dress and love this pattern! It is so fun in many ways. From the pleats in the shoulders to the silhouette and pockets, the Sunki Dress emanates style on any little gal. I can't wait for Cora to get bigger so I can make one for her as well :)

As I stated above, the details in the dress bring it all together. Top stitching has been a challenge for me, and I find that the more you practice, the better you become. Over the past two weeks I have been doing my fair share of top stitching and I am feeling just a little more confident with every garment I create.

I will say that the pocket construction threw me for a loop. Figgy's does have a tutorial within the pattern that showed a pictorial of how to, which helped me some. Even though my dress had some puckering (after 3 tries I just settled) I still really like it. This will be another skill I must practice and get better at.

The Sunki dress asks for a zipper to be placed down the middle of the back, which I omitted. I had seen on a couple blogs where the fit of the dress isn't compromised if you left it out, so that is what I did. The back puffs out just a little bit, but Madison didn't seem to mind too much.

Omitted the zipper
Plaid is knit of sorts, but I cannot pin point exactly.  Black is some quilting cotton. Both from Joann's.
Loose, with some room to grown.

Thank you so much for your support in the Perfect Pattern Parcel! I was honored to be able to sew up a few of the garments, and I am excited to have these patterns for my girls to grow into. If you still haven't purchased Parcel #5, you can click on the "Purchase Parcel #5" button below to grab the final girls Parcel of the year! Don't forget to check out the rest of the ladies on the tour too :)
