Madeit Fashion Week: Pocket Fold Skirt

Saturday, September 5, 2015

Happy Saturday readers!! Today is the final day of Madeit Fashion Week, and I am very excited to be here. It almost didn't happen due to time, over booking and my camera fogging (thank you Florida!) but somehow it got finished, and the final garment is pretty rad.

Before I get started, this virtual fashion show is all about showcasing Anna and Olu's newest pattern collective release called FOLD | 2. "Inspired by the Japanese art of origami our new collection brings you a fresh and modern range of patterns for stylish and adventurous kids.
Each piece incorporates unique detail; clever folds, beautiful pleats and concealed pockets.
We don’t think kids should save clothes for special occasions, we think they should look good everyday
." Well stated ladies! I couldn't agree more :). Onto the show!

I gave Madison the option of picking out which pattern she wanted me to sew up, because since this fashion show is all about the kids, why not let her pick? She chose the Pocket Fold Skirt, and I am very glad she did. Not gonna lie, once I opened up the pattern and skimmed through, my initial thought was "What the hell did I get myself into?!?!? So many steps... and origami?!?", buuuuuuut I was pleasantly wrong. The way the ladies mapped out, guide and illustrate this pattern is unlike any pattern I have sewn in a while. Olu's witty humor is deff apparent throughout the steps, and it was incredible :) They seriously take you step by step, and show you how to conquer the Pocket Fold Skirt no problem. I will also say I have never seen such a beautifully constructed skirt... the inside of this bad boy is pristine ladies. I think I might have M wear it inside out lol

Like seriously, how can you not fall in love with those pockets and all the small detail? And I don't know about you, but this fabric has me swooning and praying that fall comes rather quickly here in the tropics lol The fabric is a stretch bottom weight from Joann's about 8 months ago I think.....? But it sewed up great. I can't wait to sew with another bottom weight like this soon. Unfortunately I chose the fabric for this one, and not M... needless to say the colors to her are "ugly" (I think she has lost her mind, don't you?), but I promised her once she gets older she will be able to appreciate all these gorgeous colors!!! The contrasting fabric is some vintage linen, and this too was pretty dreamy to work with.

See my sad attempt at an Origami bow type thing...? At least I tried :)

Thank you so much Olu and Anna for having Miss Madison and I joining in on the Madeit Fashion week fun! All of the patterns rock and the participating bloggers have made it a fierce competition.

But wait! There is more!!!!! Madeit Patterns is offering 20% off their collection with the code MFW20. Also, if you follow @madeit_patterns on IG, you can win a pattern by answering a question about today's fashion show. And if that isn't enough, make sure to leave a comment on Needle and Ted Sunday stating what the highlights of Madeit Fashion week were to you, and you could  win a fabric voucher from NOSH Fabrics. Woot woot!!! We hope you have enjoyed Madeit Fashion Week!!!
